Hello! My name is Roberta. I am originally from Zimbabwe and have grown up in both the south of England and Vancouver, Canada. I moved to Vienna last year in the autumn and have since fallen in love with this wonderful city. After graduating from the University of Southampton with a degree in Accounting and Finance, I decided to pursue a different path that led me towards teaching. My interest in teaching English started in Vancouver when I volunteered for an integration programme to help new immigrants learn basic English skills. I worked with a range of women and children from all over the world and found the experience both enriching and interesting. |
I have been fortunate to follow this through in Vienna and at the beginning of this year I began working with a private kindergarten in the city and teaching within the Volkshochschule. I really enjoy working with children and watching how quickly they develop and absorb new skills. I think it’s most important to create a comfortable environment where the children feel at ease to speak a new language. Engaging the children in an imaginative process using a combination of song, rhyme, and stories allows the children to have fun while learning English. |
